Practice Managers Programme 2019

With new emphasis on planning, prevention and local population needs, Primary Care is being challenged to work differently and innovate in order to meet increasing demand and expectations.  Primary Care Networks, Integration, Collaboration are radically different ways of working and offer an exciting alternative to traditional service models.  Such changes require a shift in thinking and an appetite to do things differently.  It means attending to the present while looking to the future.  It means learning to influence and negotiate with others who might be resistant to change.  At times this may feel like spinning many plates in an already demanding working environment.

About the Programme

This is a 9 month development programme for GP Practice Managers who want to develop their own capabilities in leading others and systems, people who wish to play a more active role in influencing change in their practices and make meaningful local improvements to the wider healthcare communities served.

Unlike traditional training programmes, this is a programme of personal development.  It is less-directive and will support you to learn about your own strengths and how to capitalise on them in order to respond more productively to the ever changing landscape and context that you are working within.  It is a process that will help you to learn to see your context differently and become more proactive in shaping your future.

The programme will consist of semi-structured workshop sessions with two expert facilitators who will introduce you to a variety of concepts and tools that will you to lead and manage with greater confidence and authority.  Smaller facilitated action learning group meetings will run alongside these interactive sessions providing you with space and time to think and reflect on how best to apply your learning back in the real world of your day job.

This programme is designed to help Practice Managers and Business Managers in Primary Care to step back and consider their impact as a leader on, themselves, their practice teams, GP’s, as well as the wider health and care system.  It is a programme that will support you through change by helping you to shift from reactive to proactive as you learn to recognise yourself as a leader in your local system.

Invitation to take part

The Practice Managers as System Leaders development programme is specifically aimed at Practice Managers and Business Managers in GP Practices who find them self taking on more responsibility to lead their Practice into the future.  You may be involved in growing your practice, managing mergers or be working more strategically with your Federation, CCG or PCN.  It’s likely that you are doing all this while still running your own Practice and dealing with the existing challenges of your busy ‘day-job’ with its high demand from other people in and around the practice and a seemingly never ending array of patients and public with their various expectations.
