Communities of Practice Workshop with Mike Chitty

Join us for this event to learn more about Communities of Practice and how you can use them in your health and care setting to improve your practice and working relationships through working collaboratively.

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are a great way to bring together people from different organisations and walks of life, with different skills and perspectives to approach issues together and allow thinking space.

Aims and objectives

This workshop will help people to use this methodology to further improve the health and care areas they are passionate about, including;

  • What is a community of practice and how to find one
  • How to set up or join a CoP
  • Using CoPs to support personal and professional development
  • How CoPs can help us with complex problems
  • Having virtual conversations
  • Saving your own resource library
  • Generating new practice that can really make a difference

Invitation to take part

We welcome everyone with a passion for improving patient care to join us from across health and care, service users, third sector, public sector and voluntary sector.

About the Facilitator

Mike is an experienced facilitator, trainer, coach and consultant.  His approach is based on a belief that people only learn what they really want to learn – and often don’t want to learn what we want to teach them! As a consequence of this he focusses on stimulating curiosity and provoking exploration about ‘the direction in which progress lies’ for:

  • Individuals and their relationships,
  • Teams and their relationships,
  • Organisations and their relationships and
  • Systems and…yes…their relationships.

Mike has worked extensively in the public, private and so-called Third sectors in the UK. He has also worked extensively overseas.

Until March 2018 Mike was Head of Applied Leadership at the NHS Leadership Academy.  This involved him leading a faculty in the design and delivery of leadership development interventions to a wide range of teams and communities in the NHS, Social Care and the arms length bodies that work with it such as NHSE, NHSI and so on.
